Shattered Teapot
The teapot fell from her hand, hitting the ground, shattering and spilling warm brown liquid everywhere. She followed soon, collapsing in a heap on the cold hard tiles. I let out an evil laugh, taking my gloves off and throwing them into the fire. I dusted off my hands, and walked out the open front door. As I got into my car, I noticed a child, holding a teddy bear, looking out a window. I smiled at him, and drove off.
I’m not an evil person. I’m Bask. I hold grudges to the death. My wife had crossed me one too many times. She’d cheated on me more than once, that I knew about. It seemed to start when my job took me to the main city for two weeks. I was the head of a major business negotiation, so I couldn’t avoid it. The negotiations were short, so I returned home, earlier than I expected. Earlier than she expected.
I pulled up to my house, and saw another, unknown, car in the driveway. Odd, I thought, as my wife’s friends didn’t have cars. Being the suspicious person I am (my job requires me to be), I parked a fair distance from my house, but not too far, so I was able to observe events, but not be observed.
I remained there until evening fell. A tall man left my house, his short blonde hair and business suit messed up. My wife ran after him, naked, to give him his tie, which he’d left behind. Parting with a kiss, he drove off. No one sight has angered me more in my entire life. Deciding not to come home tonight, I drove to a bar in town.
The next morning, I woke up with a hangover, but felt more refreshed than last night. I decided to return to my house. Upon arrival, however, I found yet another car in my driveway. This one was different to the one from last night. Infuriated, I waited until the car left, and stormed into my house.
I didn’t ask for an explanation. I simply put my gloves on, removed my 1838 long-sword from the wall, and approached my wife.
"Never cheat on a Bask," I said coldly, almost a whisper, but I knew she heard me. You could tell by the way her face turned pale as she realized what was about to happen. The teapot fell from her hand, hitting the ground and shattering.
