Return of Physics

Okay, let me start this entry by emphasizing I'm not pussywhipped (refer to "I Love Kirsten" article comment by alpha). This journal entry isn't cuz Kirsten told me to write it; it's cuz I'm bored :P

As you may come to expect of me, this would be another entry with me whingeing about physics (well, the title would suggest it). Prepare to be disappointed.

While I'm not exactly praising Physics, a "Not Bad" assessment is well.. Not Bad.

Wednesdays for me is basically Physics day.
Physics lecture at 9, Maths lecture at 11, Physics Lab 2-5 PM.
Physics lectures arent actually too bad now that we have a decent lecturer (Aidan Byrne for those of you who know him). He's actually interesting, and explains the content in a way that gets through my head.

However, there's another thing that makes lectures particularly enjoyable. John Horan (get your mind out of the gutter people, not THAT enjoyable!). About 2 months ago, good ol' Johnny Horan was telling me something about how all matter is actually waves (or some crap like that; I didn't actually understand a lot of what he was talking about).

It so happens that we are learning about waves in Physics now. Today, we were shown that two waves travelling in different directions actually pass through each other. See now this made me think (yes, it hurt). If all matter is waves, and waves can pass through each other, can we walk through walls?

I asked Johnny this question (okay, I've asked him this question a couple of times before). He preceded to grind his teeth at me and explain to me why matter can't go through matter, in a similar way waves do. (Though, I didn't understand what he was going on about). Aidan then said something else about waves, and I asked John the question again. He ground his teeth in an angry way and threatened something along the lines of grevious bodily harm. This amused me :D

Okay in the afternoon was Physics Lab time! As explained in the last post, you're meant to do stupid pre-lab questions for these labs. I hadn't. (They're usually collected in the first 10 mins of the lab)... Anyways Ive got a cool lab partner and she just told me to copy her solution :D

Other than that, the lab instructor was cool -- She didn't care about all that error crap or layout or anything. And we finished the lab by 3:55 -- over an hour early. This pleases me.

And thus, the physics whingeing was no more (well, until next week).
