It's that time again...

So I haven't written a journal entry for quite some time now, and felt that sudden urge in my spleen (no, not the clutching type).

As many of you know, I have an obsession with my spleen. Mainly because I previously didn't know what it did, or where it was, and was armed with the knowledge that spleens frequently rupture (right?...).

Anyway, off spleens for now, Happy New Year to everyone I didn't spend half my phone bill sms'ing on new years day. That, and half the sms's probably didn't get through because Optus is dodge as all hell.

Anyway, I hear you all asking, "what did Pete do on New Years?", because you're all oh-so-interested in my life.

Pete went to Melbourne. Thanks to Virgin's cheap Christmas Day flights, I left for melbourne at 5PM. Surprisingly, my parents weren't terribly bothered with my Chirstmas Day departure; they even drove me to the airport.

Christmas day was relatively boring... I guess the fun really started on New Years, when we went into the city :) Crawling through the city, searching for the pub with the cheapest covercharge (we found one that had a $90 cover charge!!), we ended up at the Casino.

Ah Crown. No cover charge, $5.50 drinks.... What more could you ask for? (other than perhaps Shooters). After downing way too many drinks, we ended up going to the balcony of the Arts Centre to have a look at the pretty lights (the fireworks).

Melbourne seems to have this complex that they're somehow inferior to Sydney. Sydney gets the Olympics, so Melbourne runs out and gets the Commonwealth games. Sydney has cool fireworks on NYE 2000/1, so Melbourne runs out and hires the same people to do their fireworks on NYE 2003/4. Sure, they were great fireworks, but I can think of better things to spend taxpayers money on (enough tax rants for today).

Ah, but the fun didn't stop on NYE... On New Years day, I drove to Halls Gap, for a bit of Overnight camping fun. It's a little down in the Grampians National Park. It's interesting; on the highway, they have "Speed Advisory" check thingies. basically, it's a radar attached to a digital display; but no camera. It's probably intended to let you know you're speeding if you didn't, and tell you how accurate your speedo actually is. Only thing is, most people speed up for it.

After 137km/h or something, the display simply shows "TOO FAST, SLOW DOWN"... which a surprising number of people in front of me got... Just an idea, I reckon they should have these things on all speed cameras; so you know whether you got booked or not, instead of having to suffer for two weeks waiting for it to come in the mail...

Anyways up at Halls Gap (the next day), we went Horse Riding! Sure, I'd never ridden a horse before, but it was great fun. It's not terribly hard to get the hang of, but you sure to get a sore ass afterwards...

Anyways, thats my new years; write a journal yourself and tell me about yours (yeah I know, cheap ploy).
