MPAA. Suck.

Andromeda Interlaced

Last week was exam week for me. Hence, I had many a reason to procrastinate (instead of study).

One way I ended up procrastinating was to go out to a video store and hire a DVD. I think Rob said it best:

[22:31] <bob2> Nemesis__: I'd feel dirty paying for it

But I was out of options (I'll write some netspeed hate another day).

Anyhow, As I was watching it, I couldn't help but to notice how poor quality the recordings were. I felt like the numbskulls had taken a shitty VCR, hooked it up to a DVD recorder and pressed 'Play'.

1. Grainy. Oh so grany. It's like watching TV in Murrumbateman, only there's no commercials.

2. Interlaced. The graininess I guess could be attributed to film, or whatever. But the Interlacing really got to me.

Andromeda Interlaced

You'd think that nowadays, everything would be recorded digitally... Right? Digital camcorders, etc etc. Especially since I'm guessing DVDs make up a fair chunk of sales.

And even if they had for some stupid reason recorded it on interlaced media, there's so much you can do to remove it. Blur the fields, remove a field, etc etc etc.

The MPAA can't expect people to pay for DVDs, movies, etc, if the quality is so shit.

Suck.
