Free West Papua

I've been able to catch up on some TV recently and I've seen these ads to 'Free West Papua'. I'm not commenting on the validity of their case, but have you seen the website address they flash at the end: www.opticalsuperstore.com.au/freewestpapua What a stupidly long address. Particularly since this is only on the screen for a second. So why not have their own proper web site address? Well they do! If you follow that address you end up at www.freewestpapua.com.au a far easier address to remember.

So is the owner of opticalsuperstore.com.au providing hosting and this is part of the deal? Isn't that against the law, or the spirit of this advertisement. Doesn't really matter, except that no one will follow the link as it's too long.

What I found is that when trying to catch the website so I could see what the ad's were all about I was only able to catch the first half of the address which, funnily enough, is for the optical super store. (whatever that is)
So without trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist I believe it is a bit fishy that it is such a long website which ends up taking you to the latter website mentioned above.

However seeing as there probably are limited resources for those related to the cause to run an expensive campaign on a commercial television channel, the optical super store have possibly paid for the advertising and added their name on the website shown for their own endorsement as a kind of self serving donation.

that's what I think anyway.
