I'm a Grumpy Young Man

First off, does anyone remember Bugs Bunny? Everybody does right? Anyway, they have decided to 'remake' Bugs Bunny. The word 'remake' always makes me shudder. Do they remake the 'Mona Lisa'? No and for good reason. This new show 'Lunatics' is set in the year 2772. Wait, it gets worse. There are 6 'remade' characters - Bugs Bunney (now called Buzz Bunny), Wile. E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Tasmanian Devil and that female Bugs Bunny character introduced in the movie Space Jam (told you it got worse). And did I mention that they now have super powers? Right....

What happened? What was wrong with Bugs Bunny the way he was? He's still funny? Oh my God, I have just turned into my worst nightmare - a grumpy young man. This is a new breed of male, ever more present among Generation Y (I hate that title too, damn there I go again!). We get angry at the littlest of things - shitty forum code for uni, stupid video game console names, crazy Type.Missing code for supposedly optional arguments in a language that would be good if Microsoft created some damn documentation that wasn't just VB examples and....ahem, let me compose myself.

What happened? Did I somehow miss middle age and skip straight to old age? Why do I find myself compelled to shout at the TV when I disagree with some crazy left wing looney on the ABC. Why the hell am I watching the ABC in the first place!? Is it because we now expect things in internet time and in internet time I'm about 65 years old?

Is there a cure?

Two points-
Firstly, I'm going to be "grumpy" about the future generation.
They're fat, lazy, and unimaginative. This is a generation that has such little imagination that they get bored of "Bugs Bunny" as we knew it.

This is a generation that grew up with "Toy Story" and other big-budget animations. This generation needs the "thrills" of "Buzz Bunny".

Secondly, I wouldn't say "generation Y" (I too hate that title) is "grumpy". I'd say we're just impatient. We are a generation that (generally) appreciates cleanliness and perfection. We adamantly dislike signs of imperfection (or just plain broken - like shitty forums). We are the generation that say "jesus, I could do a better job" -- and actually go out and do it (Tutass?). We are percieved by others as others as impatient and arrogant because of this.

What have they done????

The "new" versions are nothing like the "old" cuddly loveable characters that have been around in one form or another since the 40's. What does it say about the state of Children's TV, if cartoons based on witty story lines have been replaced with "action" that encourages kids to use even less of thier imagination?

Shouldn't cartoons like looney tunes which are targeted at the 4 + audience and aim to be entertaining without resorting to violence? Maybe kids today have been exposed to much too early and need constant stimulus to keep interested.

But I think those of our generation (I also dislike Generation Y ) will sadly miss the days of saturday morning cartoons staring the old cast of looney tunes

better question, how do you manage to get so worked up about something you could simply ignore?

ps this doesn't change the fact that i like macs.
pps the above statement should not be taken as fanboyism. i like linux too. i find windows annoying to use.
